Welcome to the Membership resource area

Thank you for taking time to look at the Membership page. My name is Tony Grover and I am the District Membership lead for District 1080. I am hoping that by taking this time you have an interest in all maters concerning membership. You might be your club Membership Representative, or you might be the Club President looking for ideas to help improve your club membership numbers. Whatever your club role, welcome.

We know that there have been great changes in the way that modern lifestyles affect the way we live. We know too well that the considerations people now give regarding when and how they allocate their spare time, and to what organisations they may wish to become involved with, has changed also. We must change and adapt the way we present Rotary to attract people from all walks of life to join with us doing good things in our communities. It’s up us all to present Rotary membership in a vibrant, diverse and positive way. This is our challenge, and it is the job of your Membership Team to help you all along the way.

Now is the time for Rotary Clubs throughout District 1080 to ‘Embrace the need for Change’ and to ‘Plan for Growth’. This message was highlighted at our recent membership Seminar held on 7th June 2025 in Brandon. There were many speakers at the event giving presentations highlighting many aspects concerning how we can grow Rotary together. All the presentation slides from the seminar are downloadable and available for your use by clicking on this link.

When making your club growth and continuation plan decide what your targets are going to be and set realistic timelines for your desired outcomes and you’ll be fine.

When considering how to attract new members I should reiterate that by far the most effective way of introducing new members to your clubs is via the contacts club members have or your club has made locally over time. These people or organisations within your communities have probably already been impressed by what Rotary has done for them, for their cause and for their community. They may well want to be involved in the future, even if they don’t know it! Go back to them, talk to them, tell them about Rotary, what Rotary membership does for you and what Rotary could do for them. Invite them along to one of your meetings, not necessarily all at once, but gradually and spending the time to make them feel as though their participation in what Rotary does can be beneficial in all the ways we know Rotary does. Be proactive in your approach to expanding the reach of your club and consider other options to attract members. Satellite clubs and flexible corporate community partnerships run in tandem with your club could prove very beneficial.

We have been working to provide resources that can be used by any club throughout the district to assist with the promotion or Rotary membership and involvement. We are happy to report that some of those resources are now coming on stream and that they are accessible via this page. Below you will find two PowerPoint presentations that you can use and adapt for your own club purposes. They are:

  1. Rotary Club Membership Presentation
  2. Corporate Membership Presentation

Both presentations are available now and can be used by you at any of your club meetings or events to highlight what Rotary and your club are all about. Include your club’s name, logo, visuals and achievements within the presentations to make them identifiable to your club. I’m sure that someone within your club will be able to do this but if not, then please contact us for some assistance.

You will also find two documents available for download. These are a ‘New Member Guide’ and ‘Introducing Corporate Membership’. They run alongside these presentations for your use or can be sent as attachments on emails as may be appropriate.

Further information on all forms of Rotary membership can be found via the RGBI and RI websites. Access to this information is easy via your ‘My Rotary’ account. If you don’t have such an account, all you need to register is your Rotary Membership number which should be available to you by your Club Secretary.

Please keep looking for updates either on this page or via the regular articles published within the ‘District 1080 News’ magazine every month.

As ever, our team focus is to endeavour to increase the number of Rotarians and Rotary Clubs throughout the district and retain those we already have. We don't want to lose any Rotarian along the way.

Please keep in touch and let us know about any new membership promotional ideas or events that you or your club may be entertaining. If we can help in some way, we will be glad to. Please don't hesitate to get in touch to discuss further. I look forward to hearing from you.
